Hello Parents and Families!

Hello ASU Prep Students and Parents!

This week we will continue to do some new learning and review some skills from last week.

In Literacy/Reading we will:
Read with a partner the book of the week, "Fin In the Water." We will complete and discuss prompted comprehension journal questions on the book as well, and continue to retell and practice story comprehension.

We will continue to use our comprehension dice to ask our partners important details of the story. Here are some images of students using their comprehension dice after reading their book of the week:





In Math we will:
Begin an introduction to time and begin reading and writing times on clocks.

In Writing we will be:
Continue to work on observing our growing caterpillar chrysalis and recording our scientific observations into our butterfly life cycle jounrals with pictures and words.

•April 15-26 - Grades 3-8 AIMS and Grade 2 Stanford 10 testing

* Don't forget to bring in your student's 'Raising a Reader' Book Bags every Friday! Your child will not be allowed to get a new bag until the old one had been returned, or missing books/items have been returned.

Welcome Back!

Hello Parents and Families!


Hope you had a fun and refreshing Spring Break! I know I did! I spent some time in Cali soaking up some sun, and also went to see one of our classroom friends in his first theatrical performance of "Oliver Twist." Check out some pictures below!

This week we will continue to do some new learning and review some skills from last week. We will be learning:

In Literacy/Reading we will:
Read with a partner the book of the week, "The Mud Dug." We will complete and discuss prompted comprehension journal questions on the book as well, and continue to retell and practice story comprehension. We will learn how to use context clues in stories to help identify unknown words in a text; such as picture clues and words we know.

In Math we will:
Continue to compose and Decompose #'s 10-20 and continue our work on addition concepts in addition story problems and using a number line to solve problems.

In Writing we will be:
Continue to work on writing 'How to' stories to teach people how to do things by following written and picture directions. At the end of the week we will finalize a 'how to' directions list and test it out by following our directions in an experiment! Our topic will be 'how to grow a plant.'

  • April 12 - ASU Prep Golf Tournament
  • April 13 - Spring Festival
