Welcome Back!
Hello Parents and Families!
Welcome back! I hope you all had a restful and re-energizing break!
Don't forget that this week we have a field trip to the Schnepp Farms this Thursday, Oct. 18th from 9am-1:30pm. Field trip money was due this morning, as well as permission slips.
I have chosen the chaperones that were interested in attending using a lottery system, and a note should be in your child's folder notifying you of your status as a chaperone. Be aware that as a chaperone you are to help the class and supervise multiple children to oversee during the trip. You will be assigned a group when you come to attend the trip - you should be there at 8:45am, since the class leaves at 9am.
The students will be learning about how farms and their supply of food affect the world and the community, as well as identifying and describing farm animals and the environments they live in. This week the students will be creating questions about farms that will be answered throughout the week as we explore farm habitats and the above listed subjects.
This week students will be reviewing ordering number amount and recognizing numbers from smallest to greatest, as well as beginning to explore the real world applications of shapes.
We will begin new sight words beginning next week, and students will also be starting their walk to reading and math groups next Monday where they will visit other Kinder classrooms to be taught math and reading skills appropriate and specific for their academic levels as show on their ILP forms and report cards.
This week the students are beginning an introduction to Small Moment stories where they focus on one specific event and write with details about three processes of that event. We will continue to focus on that skill over the next few weeks.
Glad to have everyone back today, and I look forward to seeing how your children learn and grown over the 2nd Quarter!
Best,
Miss Crowl

This upcoming week we will be reviewing all letters, sounds, and sight words. Your student should know all of the letters of the alphabet and the sight words listed under the sight words page. Be sure to keep practicing at home!
Don't forget - ILP conferences are next week, October 3rd-5th. I will be sending home your finalized times this Friday, Sept. 28th in your child's homework folder. The students have no school next week, Oct. 3-Oct. 15th.

We also learned the letters T,t and I,i and the new sight words 'for' 'and' & 'he.'
We also celebrated Alexavier Tasher turning 5 years old this week! Happy Birthday, Alex!

We will learn about our brain, muscles, bones, digestive system, respiratory system and skin. We will be creating images of our bodies by doing body tracings and including our own interpretations of what the insides of our bodies look like.
We also have been adding some great journal entries to our class journals and creating words by stretching out the sounds of the letters within words, and using tools in our classroom like the word wall and our ABC charts. We also learned the letters F,f and B,b and O,o and N,n as well as the new sight words 'it' 'of' & 'go.'
In math we have been learning even more about attributes of other people, and how to sort items in the real world into categories, like sorting our classmates by shoe types, pant types, and by gender!
We practice everyday to become expert readers, writers, and math investigators!
Picture day was this past Monday, and I really enjoyed seeing all of our fabulous students in their finest attire! Can't wait for you to see their photos when we get them back!
