Last Week and Upcoming!

Hello parents and families!

The students had a great time learning this past week, Aug. 2oth-24th! They learned more about their five senses; hearing, tasting, smelling, seeing, and touching! Students did hands on projects to aid in knowing what parts of your body are used to apply those senses. Students really enjoyed using their smelling sense through their nose to smell various spices, and they also enjoyed using their tongue to taste various items that stimulated the areas of the tongue; salty (salt), sweet(sugar), bitter(tea), and sour(lemons).

We also learned the letters T,t and I,i and the new sight words 'for' 'and' & 'he.'

We also celebrated Alexavier Tasher turning 5 years old this week! Happy Birthday, Alex!

This current week August 27th-31st, we will be learning about the parts of our body, their functions, and what our bodies can do! We will learn about our brain, muscles, bones, digestive system, respiratory system and skin. We will be creating images of our bodies by doing body tracings and including our own interpretations of what the insides of our bodies look like.

We also have been adding some great journal entries to our class journals and creating words by stretching out the sounds of the letters within words, and using tools in our classroom  like the word wall and our ABC charts. We also learned the letters F,f and B,b and O,o and N,n as well as the new sight words 'it' 'of' & 'go.'

In math we have been learning even more about attributes of other people, and how to sort items in the real world into categories, like sorting our classmates by shoe types, pant types, and by gender!

We practice everyday to become expert readers, writers, and math investigators!

Picture day was this past Monday, and I really enjoyed seeing all of our fabulous students in their finest attire! Can't wait for you to see their photos when we get them back!

Don't forget parents!! This upcoming Monday, Sept. 3, is Labor Day and school will be closed. Have an amazing three day weekend, and we will see you next Tuesday!

Best,

Miss Crowl and the Kindergarteners of Rm. 40.
